A spectacular and distinctive flycatcher, the bright red Vermilion Flycatcher inhabits riparian areas and scrub in the southwestern United States and southward. Spent an amazing 12 days in Southeast Arizona photographing a variety of wildlife that inhabits this section of the United States. We stayed in a B&B right near the San Pedro River in Hereford, AZ and took day trips from there. Here is the Common Raven which looks so at home on the open desert scrublands.

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite places in New York City to go birding. This past Sunday was a beautiful morning and the air at Jamaica Bay was perfumed with honeysuckle.

We happened upon a Black-crowned Night Heron in a bed of flowers taking in the sun on a beautiful Sunday.

After four straight days of rain, we ventured to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge early Saturday morning at sunrise. The air was condensed insects. The birds were so happy and lively. I kept my mouth shut and took lots of pictures. I think that this Brown Thrasher is keeping his mouth open in order to consume a large protein filled brunch.

Participated in a birding workshop given through the New York City Audubon Camera Club at Sterling Forest led by David Speiser and Lloyd Spitalnik May 30. We were fortunate to be able to photograph the Golden-winged Warbler which is quickly dwindling in population.
