The picture of this Mallard Duck was taken in Central Park.
The picture of this Mallard Duck was taken with the CANON EOS7D and the CANON 100-400mm lens and the CANON 580EXII flash.
I took this picture from a jetty that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean where there were strong currents and breaking waves. It was a bit challenging for me to get up onto the jetty with all my equipment and then get set to to take this picture before the birds moved on. But well worth the ordeal to capture such a lovely bird.
I can’t help but love the “accidents” that occur when doing photography. In this case the beautiful blue color reflected in the water enhances the similar blue color of the Ruddy duck beak.
I find the female Hooded Merganser one of the most beautiful elegant ducks that I see. The setting for this picture gives it a somewhat painterly appearance which really shows just how magnificent this female Hooded Merganser is.
It is so cool to take a pictuer of a bird standing on the ice. It is easy to see all of the lovely details of this pretty duck.
It is always exciting to be able to “stop” water with the camera. These two ducks were going at eachother for quite awhile and were in close proximity.
This Common Goldeneye is going to be in great shape for Valentine’s day next week!
