White-throated Sparrow on Ice

This White-throated Sparrow was sliding around on the thick layer of ice that covered the park.

I took this picture at the blind on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay. There were many different water birds at the East Pond this past weekend.

Carolina Wren

I have been trying to get a picture of the Carolina Wren for sometime. The Carolina Wren is a very nervous bird and I finally was able to get this capture at the blind at Jamaica Bay National Wildlife Center for the mere moment he landed on this branch.

Yellow-rumped Warbler

There were so many Yellow-rumped Warblers around and about in New York City, it was such a pleasure to have so many great photo ops.

I have never seen so many Yellow-rumped Warblers in one day as I did at Jamaica Bay National Wildlife Refuge this past Saturday giving me lots of photo ops. I have read reports all over the city of the large numbers of migrating Yellow-rumped Warblers. They are nicknamed “butter butt” for obvious reasons.
